How does the way we speak tells us about who we are? Do you think Singlish is good?Why or why not? Zaki

It depends.Accents can vaguely tell you where someone has been or where the person was raised and sometimes people like Americans can quickly pick up a British accent in a few weeks.But really no, the way we speak does not tell us about who we are.Okay,you can tell a little bit from sentence construction,accent,breath even or grammar or maybe vocabulary.So,the way we speak tells us only a little bit about who we are.

Singlish.A singaporean-modified version of english.It includes words from other languages,slangs and wrong use of grammar or no use of grammar.Its a double-sided sword,so to speak.It defines Singaporeans,who we are and its our very own language!But it hurts us because tourists who visit us and encounter this language may think we do not have proper education.Its bad to us too because overuse of this slang language can make you use Singlish too much and that is not good.At all.Overall,its bad.I hate it,yet I use it.Still,I hate it.How about we stop using this slang,and use proper english for a change,eh?
